What are the best hospitals in California for cancer surgery?

For decades, research has shown the more surgeries a hospital performs the better the outcome. Until now, data were not available for a given hospital. Visit the California Healthcare Foundation website to get the details and view the infographic with key findings to guide patient decision making. The Cancer Prevention Institute of California (CPIC) scientist Christina A. Clarke participated as a collaborating researcher in this study.

Magic Mineral Broth - A Recipe from the Cancer-Fighting Kitchen Cookbook

As the days turn cooler, a mineral broth that warms your body and soul is just what the doctor ordered. The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen features 150 nutrient-rich and easy-to-prepare recipes that will help to stimulate the appetite and relieve some of the treatment side effects for cancer patients. Get the recipe for the Magic Mineral Broth here. It can be served as a delicious sipping tea or as a base for more hearty soups and stews.

CPIC’s Director of Education Pam Priest Naeve offers this suggestion when serving the broth to cancer patients: freeze the soup in ice cube trays. This way you can melt and serve the soup one cube at a time. Cancer patients are often hungry but don’t have much of an appetite, and they don’t want to waste food.

DanceFAR - Hundreds attend sold-out performance to benefit CPIC

On Tuesday, November 10, the 4th annual DanceFAR, a sold-out event benefiting the Cancer Prevention Institute of California, was held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The event featured over 60 world-class dancers from the Bay Area and beyond and a spectacular after-party.

We are grateful to the DanceFAR co-founders and producers, James Sofranko, Margaret Karl, and Garen Scribner, sponsors, dancers, choreographers and directors who donated their performances and those who purchased tickets in support of cancer prevention.
