The statewide toll-free Consumer 800 Number operates from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Calls are taken in English, Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Vietnamese and Korean. Callers hear a brief initial greeting in English, followed by messages in each language to guide them to an Information Specialist who speaks their language. CPIC attempts two follow-up calls to all prequalified women who call the Consumer 800 Number to determine if each woman has scheduled an appointment and received services. In addition, women and men diagnosed with breast cancer and women diagnosed with cervical cancer can call CPIC to prequalify for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Treatment Program. CPIC’s Every Woman Counts Consumer 800 Number staff can provide referrals to Primary Care Providers who can enroll those diagnosed with breast and/or cervical cancer in the Treatment Program. Cancer Detection Programs: Every Woman Counts is funded by a federal grant and state tobacco tax revenue.
