Outreach Staff Profiles

Pamela Priest Naeve
Director, Community Education

Ms. Priest Naeve oversees a comprehensive program for patients, health care providers and the general (at-risk) public, focusing on detection, treatment, survivorshipCovers the physical, psychosocial, and economic issues of cancer, from diagnosis until the end of life. It focuses on the health and life of a person with cancer beyond the diagnosis and treatment phases, informed decision making, and supportive care. During her tenure at CPIC, she has supervised the development of programs in patient/public/provider education, rehabilitation, clinical trials, and communications with hospitals, community agencies, and healthcare leaders in Fresno, Sacramento, San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin County, San Jose, San Francisco and the North Counties. In 1989, only one organization conducted cancer education. Under Pam’s leadership, CPIC initiated its first community outreach program addressing breast cancer, and attracted 150 people to the College of San Mateo. This was the start of the CPIC Cancer Education Program (CEP) that now encompasses annual conferences, community seminars, work site seminars, publications, community health exhibits, special projects, information resource services, and an extensive network of collaborators and educators. Ms. Priest Naeve's early work with CPIC also involved the South Counties cancer registry, now part of the CPIC’s nine county Greater Bay Area Cancer Registry, as well as her work in helping to establish the first Bay Area hospice and Northern California hospice association.
